Auction Explanation

When you attend the 2025 Florida Woodturning Symposium, you will naturally want to take something back home with you.  It may be a new tool, a piece of wood, a trip to a turning school, or a beautiful turned item, maybe one made by a world-renowned turner.  There are 4 ways to make this happen:

  1. Purchase from one of our onsite vendors.
  2. Win it in our raffle.
  3. Be the high bidder on an item in the silent auction.
  4. Be the high bidder on an item sold in the live auction.

Each year, we hold a silent auction and a live auction to raise funds to support our educational program and to provide educational scholarships.  All items donated will be sold in either the silent or live auction.  You will be able to view these items during the symposium and up through the conclusion of the auction.  Additionally, items created by the demonstrators during the symposium will be placed in the live auction.

Shortly after the conclusion of the silent auction, a list of winners will be compiled and then posted in various areas of Sykes Hall. Each item must can be paid for at the Registration desk, where you will receive a receipt. Items may then be claimed at the FWS Information Desk located adjacent to the silent auction area by presenting your “Paid Receipt”.

Please remember that this is a charitable auction, with the primary purpose of raising funds for the FWS educational programs, with the secondary benefit of providing these wonderful items to the bidders.  It is important we all approach the proceedings with this spirit.
