I’ve always loved woodworking; started working in a furniture factory at age fourteen and started turning in 1992. Started turning in 1992 while restoring Philadelphia High Boy for a gallery in New England.

I will be demonstrating green wood turned bowls and surface enhancements with a focus on finding your voice. Like everyone else we learn by copying from others, but it’s fun to find what makes your piece yours, I hope you will join me in that journey.

Techniques for Surface Embellishments

With a plethora of artistic techniques at his disposal Bill has selected pyrography, carving, texturing and coloring to give the work it’s own voice. Throughout the demonstration, insight will be provided into the process and will focus on specific texture effects while giving insight into the nuances of wood selection for carving, pyrography and coloring techniques.

Bill will explore the basics of Turning Bowls and platters from green wood. Whether you’re new to turning or just need a refresher, learn the key techniques for getting clean cuts and smooth finishes. Log or wood orientation and wood selection. Discover how to handle tools like gouges and scrapers properly to shape the wood effectively. Get ready to dive into the world of turning and see your projects come to life.
